Are you concerned about raw milk because of the avian flu in the news lately?

We know that choosing raw milk comes with some concerns.

We truly appreciate your trust in our family’s farm to provide a safe and delicious product.

Here’s how we ensure the best milk for you, your family, and ours.

Addressing Avian Flu Concerns

States affected by the avian flu

The Texas Department of Agriculture reported the first H5N1 avian flu in cattle on a dairy farm in March.

Further testing revealed cases in cattle from eight other states.

All of those cases have been traced back to cattle from the original Texas farm.

To the best of our knowledge, avian flu in cattle has only spread through direct animal-to-animal contact.

Fortunately, there haven’t been any cases in Pennsylvania due to proactive work by the PA Department of Agriculture, state veterinarians, and our fellow dairy farmers.

We have three important ways we keep our cows healthy so that they can produce a safe and delicious product for you and your family.

  • The cows on our farm are in a closed herd, we do not buy cows.
  • The cows eat only grass in the fresh air and sunshine.
  • The health of each cow is well monitored with the help of local veterinarians.

Closed Herd

We raise all our cows on the farm from birth and haven’t brought in any new animals since the early 2000s.

This closed herd policy means we reduce the risk of diseases that our animals can get from cow-to-cow contact.

Healthy Cows Breathing Fresh Air

cows on pasture enjoy fresh air and sunshine which helps reduce the risk of avian flu

Our cows graze on pasture, enjoying fresh air and sunshine.

Fresh air is great for their health, and the sun helps kill bacteria and viruses, keeping the environment cleaner.

We don’t feed our cows grain, so fewer birds are attracted to our farm.

This further lowers the risk of diseases spreading from birds to our cattle.

Monitoring Health

We work with the cows every day and keep a careful eye on their well-being.

We partner closely with local veterinarians for regular check-ups and vaccinations, ensuring our herd stays healthy.

Dr. Danielle and Dr. Kendra help us stay up to date on the latest research about health concerns and issues in dairy cows.

A Safe and Tasty Product

We’re dedicated to providing you with safe and tasty raw milk.

Consuming raw milk can offer passive immunity benefits.

Raw milk contains antibodies and beneficial bacteria that can support your immune system, potentially providing an extra layer of defense against infections.

Thank you for trusting us.

We’re proud of our cows and the quality milk they produce, and we’ll keep working hard to maintain your confidence.
