Description
Place a deposit for a half beef from Clover Creek Cheese Cellar.
If you want a whole animal, make your deposit for two halves.
What You Will Get
A half beef will give you:
- 5-10 beef roasts
- 2 rump roasts
- 3-8 porterhouse steaks
- 3-8 t-bone steaks
- 3-8 sirloin steaks
- 3-8 rib steaks
- 5-10 round steaks/roasts
Ask Country Smokehouse to grind the remainder into ground hamburger which is perfect for making tacos, chili, or sloppy joes.
Get some of your ground beef made into hamburger patties to enjoy some grill nights or make a quick meal on a busy evening.
Request the round steaks to be tenderized and made into cubed steaks that are great when marinated and grilled with low heat or in a crock pot.
Thin-cut chipped steaks are another option that can be quickly fried into Philly cheesesteaks with peppers and onions.
You will get approximately 80-130 pounds of beef in total from one-half.
A half beef will fit in the freezer compartment of a larger refrigerator, but a deep freeze is recommended.
Placing Your Order
When you make your deposit, you’re contracting with Clover Creek Cheese Cellar to give a healthy animal to the butcher.
You’re also contracting with Country Smokehouse, our local butcher shop, to custom cut and package the beef as you desire, and to pay the butcher the going rates for that processing.
Once we let you know that the animal is at the butcher shop, you’ll have to call Country Smokehouse and let them know how you would like them to process it for you.
We’ll get the hanging weight from the butcher shop and then send you an invoice for the remaining total.
Please send us payment for the animal before you pick up your beef.
How Much Will It Cost
Your final cost will be $4.50 per pound of hanging weight with the deposit subtracted.
The hanging weight is the weight of the animal after the butcher removes the hide, head, feet, and viscera.
In 2023, the hanging weight of a half beef ranged from 150-250 pounds.
Our local butcher, the Country Smokehouse, will process your portion according to your preference.
Normal butchering fees are $120-150 per half beef including cutting, wrapping, and freezing fees.
What you will pay to the butcher shop for the butchering charge will vary depending on your processing choices.
We have been working with The Country Smokehouse for years and we’ll deliver your animal there for free.
