Clover Creek Cheese Cellar won a first-place blue ribbon in the 10th annual Cheese Competition at the 2025 PA Farm Show in Harrisburg on Saturday.
The PA Farm Show holds an annual cheese competition to determine the best cheeses in Pennsylvania, spread across 11 different categories.
Clover Creek competed with 15 fellow cheesemakers, including Goat Rodeo Farm & Dairy, Birchrun Hills Farm, and Conebella Farm.
Clover Creek’s Winemakers Select won a blue ribbon in the Flavored Cheese, Open category.
Winemakers Select is a cows-milk manchego style marinated in Cabernet Sauvignon from Grandview Winery in Mount Joy, Pa.
The judges appreciated the cheese’s woody, tangy, and piquant notes. They loved the beautiful purple color of the wine leaves on the rind.
“We’ve been making cheese for 20 years, and we’ve entered the cheese competition every year since it began,” said David Rice owner of Clover Creek Cheese Cellar.
“We are grateful that the judges recognize our hard work.
“We are glad to participate in the growing community of artisan cheesemakers in Pennsylvania.”
“You know, every morning when I walk into our cheesery, I’m reminded of why we do this.” Anthony Rice, Dave’s son and head cheesemaker, reflected.
“It’s not just about making cheese – it’s about carrying on my family’s farming legacy and sharing something special with our community.
“The recognition means a lot, but what warms my heart is knowing our cheese brings joy to people’s tables.”

Thanks Nathan! The ceremony was Saturday evening at 7 pm. They didn’t video it.
