Let me introduce you to another one of the special ladies who help make your milk and cheese possible.

Mikaela is our Employee of the Month for February at Clover Creek Cheese Cellar.

Her ear tag may read #4, but she’s number one on the cows who take the longest to milk.

At the age of almost 6 (34 in cow years), this beauty has become quite the character on our family farm.

Born on March 14th, she got her name from our daughter-in-law.

About the Fleckvieh Breed

As a proud Fleckvieh, Mikaela comes from a distinguished European heritage that might just surprise you.

Did you know that Fleckvieh cattle are one of the oldest dual-purpose breeds?

Originally from Switzerland and southern Germany, farmers prize these cattle for both their rich milk and quality meat production.

These special cows are known for their distinctive reddish-brown coats and white faces.

But they also have robust health, and exceptionally creamy milk – perfect for those artisanal cheeses you love.

Mikaela’s favorite hobby

What makes Mikaela truly special is her, shall we say, unique approach to milking time.

Mikaela - Employee of the Month

While some cows rush through their daily routines, she’s made it her mission to make the record for taking the longest to finish milking.

We like to think she’s just making sure every drop of milk is perfect for your family’s breakfast table.

Her unhurried nature aligns perfectly with our cheese-making philosophy – you simply can’t rush quality.

Just like how you take the time to prepare thoughtful, wholesome meals for your loved ones, Mikaela takes her time producing the very best milk for our award-winning cheeses.

When you’re enjoying a slice of our aged cheddar at your next gathering, remember Mikaela, our methodical milk maven.

She believes that the best things in life – like friendship, good food, and fine cheese – are worth taking your time over.
