Meet Holly, our Employee of the Month and our herd’s undisputed queen bee (or should we say queen cow?).

At 13 years old (a distinguished 62 in cow years!), this magnificent Milking Shorthorn brings the wisdom of a sage and the warmth of a summer day to our pastures.

You might spot her glorious reddish coat gleaming in the sunlight as she sashays with purpose across the farm, keeping everyone in line with a flick of her tail.

We got her a souvenir last summer when Dave and Terry visited Switzerland.

Holly has a Swiss bell around her neck, making our pastures sound like the Swiss Alps.

The Royal Lineage of Our Milking Shorthorns

You might not know that Milking Shorthorns are one of the oldest recognized cattle breeds.

They’ve strut their stuff since the 1700s in Northeastern England—basically the bovine equivalent of royalty.

You’re enjoying a heritage that sailed across the Atlantic with early American settlers.

They treasured these cows for their adaptability and dual-purpose nature—they’re the Swiss Army knives of the cattle world!

Centuries of careful breeding created the perfect balance of milk production, meat quality, and a sweet personality.

Once called “Durham cattle,” they’re known for rich and protein-dense milk.

This historic breed helped build America’s dairy tradition but became the unsung heroes in the age of industrial farming.

Holly: Our Bovine Head of Human Resources

While Holly takes her dairy duties seriously, she’s also our unofficial Head of HR.

The younger cows straighten up faster than teenagers caught sneaking in past curfew when Holly gives them her famous side-eye.

Holly embodies the heritage and care that goes into every wheel we produce—she’s our brand ambassador with hooves.

You’re not just buying cheese when you choose Clover Creek – you’re supporting Holly and our entire farm family.

You can picture her now, listening attentively to her herd mates’ gossip and drama before offering her bovine wisdom with the patience of a cow who’s seen it all.

Your dinner table connects directly to our pastures, where Holly has spent over a decade enjoying the great outdoors.

You make thoughtful choices for your family, and Holly helps us deliver on our promise of wholesome, ethically-produced cheese that would make your grandmother nod in approval.
