This month, we’re shining the spotlight on this golden-brown beauty.

Born March 26th, this four-year-old powerhouse works hard to turn our lush pastures into liquid gold.

At 26 cow years, Vivid Tangerine is in her dairy prime.

You might be wondering about her name.

We chose Crayola crayon colors as our naming theme for the year she was born.

Vivid Tangerine comes from one of the dairy industry’s most storied breeds.

History of the Jersey Breed

Jersey cattle originated on the tiny island of Jersey in the English Channel.

For centuries, they were so prized that exporting them was forbidden by law until the 1700s.

When these golden beauties finally reached American shores in the 1850s, dairy farmers quickly recognized what made them special.

“Jerseys like Vivid Tangerine produce milk with the highest butterfat content of any dairy breed,” explains Dave.
